چکیده

Stable biobased waterborne Pickering dispersions of acrylated epoxidized soybean oil (AESO) were developed using chitin nanocrystals (ChNCs) as sole emulsifier without any additives. Thin AESO-ChNC nanocomposite films produced by UV-curing thin-coated layers the AESO emulsion after water evaporation. The kinetics photopolymerization was assessed monitoring consumption acrylate groups infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). curing faster in presence ChNCs, with a disappearance induction period observed for neat AESO. coating droplets thin layer ChNCs confirmed scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation. SEM and transmission (TEM) images revealed honeycomb organization inside cured films. mechanical, thermal optical properties studied dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), tensile testing, differential calorimetry (DSC) transmittance measurement, function ChNC content. inclusion is strongly beneficial to increase stiffness strength films, compromising its transparency. ability act an replacement synthetic surfactants their strong reinforcing effect UV-cured offer new opportunities produce stable from application coatings adhesives.

Acrylated Lesqverella Oil in Ultraviolet Cured Coatings

Environmental concerns focusing on the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be ameliorated via the development and use of very lowto no-VOC coatings. Ultraviolet (W) radiation curing is an effective means of incorporating low molecular weight reactive species into high performance, onvolatile polymers. The advantages of W curing include rapid polymer network formation on heat sensi...

Ring-Opening Polymerization of Epoxidized Soybean Oil

Ring-opening polymerization of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) catalyzed by boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (BF3 OEt2) in methylene chloride was conducted in an effort to develop useful biodegradable polymers. The resulting polymerized ESO (PESO) were characterized using infrared (IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), H NMR, C NMR, solid st...

Studies on the Synthesis and Characterization of Epoxidized Soybean Oil

Traditionally, polymers are synthesized from petrochemical by-products. The greenhouse gas emissions from petroleum based polymers make them unattractive options as there has been an increase in climate changes and adverse weather conditions. Additionally, they are non-degradable, creating issues when used as landfills. For these reasons and more, there is an urgent need to find an alternative ...

Transesterification of epoxidized soybean oil to prepare epoxy methyl esters

Epoxidizedmethyl esters were prepared by the transesterification of epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO). The transesterification was complete in 10min at 50 ◦C without loss of the epoxide function. Epoxidized methyl esters represent a renewable substrate that is readily converted into surfactants, fuel additives, and other industrial products. The implementation of this reaction will increase the ava...
